After months of searching for the right partner for Black & Tan Fien Caobrink, we eventually ended up back with Creative Cicero Kimbiolo. Not because it was the easiest choice, but because he is simply the best match for what we have in mind.
Health is, of course, the foundation of any breeding pairing, but for us that is only the beginning. Character, working ability, conformation, type and versatility also carry significant weight.
Although Fien works with livestock with great enthusiasm and talent, she is a true show kelpie in both appearance and character. That is why we wanted to find her a show kelpie male who still possesses the natural aptitude for which the breed was originally developed.
We were looking for a dog that is more than just beautiful or successful in the sport. A Kelpie with a well-balanced and sociable temperament. A dog that loves to work, but is just as happy living quietly indoors. A male with the right appearance: athletic without being overly fine-boned, with a powerful silhouette, dark eyes and the typical, alert Kelpie expression.
That makes the pool of candidates from which to choose surprisingly small.
