Important: Traveling abroad with a young puppy
Are you planning to travel abroad with your puppy, or do you reside outside the Netherlands? Please be aware that under EU regulations, a puppy is only allowed to cross international borders with a valid rabies vaccination.
The rules at a glance:
A rabies vaccination can only be administered from 12 weeks of age.
There is a mandatory 21-day waiting period after the vaccination before it becomes legally valid.
As a result, puppies must be at least 15 weeks old before they can legally travel internationally or be imported.
If you live abroad or plan to travel shortly after picking up your puppy, please keep this timeframe in mind. For country-specific regulations, please consult the LICG or your local veterinary authority.
